The Cel-Fi QUATRA 4000 is a powerful active DAS hybrid system. It is a cost-efficient and easy-to-install signal solution for the middleprise sector. The QUATRA 4000 uses CAT 5e cabling for RF and Power over Ethernet. Each individual signal booster system (which includes 1x Network Unit and 6x Coverage Units) can cover up to 75,000 sq. ft. The QUATRA 4000 boosts 3G/4G/LTE voice and data on up to four bands simultaneously from four operators.
The QUATRA 4000 operates by capturing the signal from the outside macro networks, boosting them, and relaying their signals indoor from the coverage units. It is a hybrid solution that combines the best of active DAS and Smart Booster technologies. The system is self-configuring and self-optimizing, offering the easiest installation in its class via the Cel-Fi WAVE Portal.
The Cel-Fi WAVE Platform is a cloud-based remote management platform that enables device management and maintenance of Cel-Fi systems. Key features of the WAVE platform include:
- Cel-Fi device and asset management
- Data modeling and reporting
- Mobile and desktop applications. The WAVE mobile app facilitates ease of use on site
- Globally trusted carrier-grade security
- Alerts and alarms can be used as recommended settings or customized however users prefer.
- The WAVE Platform portal can be accessed through the dashboard interface, or integrated via APIs.
There are two versions of the QUATRA 4000 available. The regular QUATRA 4000 offers up to 75,000 sq ft of coverage, but does not support Band 30 or Band 41 coverage. The QUATRA 4000i is the industrial version, which does supports Band 30 and Band 41 coverage.
5 Significant Improvements To The QUATRA 4000
1) 4 carriers are now supported
The QUATRA 4000 now supports AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, and Sprint.
2) Greater coverage and more downlink power
The Coverage Units (CUs) for the 4000 have increased downlink power (17 dBm), to maximise the coverage they support. While previous versions of the QUATRA system included four CUs, the QUATRA 4000 includes six, increasing coverage area by 50%.
3) Small cells
The QUATRA 4000 is the first QUATRA system to support small cells being overlaid. This greatly increases coverage options with carriers including Verizon.
4) Installer-friendly changes
The QUATRA 4000 has made a number of changes to make set-up more straightforward for integrators. The unit now has N-type connectors. The internal modem has a built-in SIM card slot for connectivity if there is no ethernet connection. The Coverage Unit's single N-type connector is ideal for a passive antenna design. Coaxial inputs are now one per carrier (previous generations used one per band, which could cause signal issues where two carriers shared the same band).
Coverage is provided via Power over Ethernet (PoE); this means that no separate power supply is needed for the Coverage Units. Dynamic gain control in the Network Unit ensures maximum gain and the best coverage at all times in changing RF environments, without any need for administrator intervention.
Elements
The standard QUATRA 4000 kit includes one Network Unit and six Coverage Units. Optional additional accessories are also available.
QUATRA 4000 Network Unit (NU)
The Cel-Fi QUATRA 4000 Network Unit (NU) is the hub of the system. The scalable design works with one to six Coverage Units to provide up to 75,000 sq ft. of coverage. The NU receives signal from the donor antenna and provides power to up to six Coverage Units. It can be managed by the WAVE Cloud Platform for Remote Monitoring. A standard kit includes one NU. The NU has an attractive metal case and weighs approx 8 lbs.
QUATRA 4000 Coverage Unit (CU)
The Cel-Fi QUATRA 4000 Coverage Unit (CU) is the remote radio head of the system that rebroadcasts the donor signal. Each CU provides coverage in the QUATRA 2000 system (up to six per Network Unit). Each CU is powered by Power-Over-Ethernet (POE) from the Network Unit. A standard kit includes six CUs.
Optional Accessories
QUATRA Range Extender (QRE)
The Cel-Fi QUATRA 4000 Range Extender is an optional accessory that extends the maximum distance between the NU and the CU. It allows NU-to-CU cable lengths of up to 200 meters (650 ft.) The QRE is a Power over Ethernet (PoE) device (no separate power supply or PoE injector needed).
QUATRA 4000 Fiber Hub
Cel-Fi QUATRA 4000 Fiber Hub expands the Network Unit capacity from six to up to twelve Coverage Units. The fiber hub can be installed 2.0km (1.24m) away from the NU to cover large spaces while maintaining the same signal quality throughout the system.
